Similarities & Difference of Bespoke & End-user Development

Q) Explain what are the main similarities and differences between Bespoke Development and End-User Development.

Answer:

Bespoke Development:
Bespoke development refers to when an information system is developed by an information systems professional to match the business requirements of the application.

End-user Development:
End-user-developed software is software written by non-IS professionals,
 i.e. the business users. 

Similarities:

  1. Both are organizational specific software development models.
  2. End-product of these development models are based on customer's (or Organization's) requirements.
  3. Used to develop softwares for a specific customer or organization. 
Differences:
  1. Bespoke Development are carried out by IT Professionals of the same organization or from any third party. While End-user development is carried out of people of the same organization, which may or may not be IT experts.
  2. Chances of Bugs are less in Bespoke development, while it is more in case of End-user development.
